Composer, conductor and jazz musician (tenor- baritone- and soprano saxophones, vocals and guitar).
Studied music and theory at the University in Copenhagen as well as at the Royal Danish Academy of Music (classical guitar).
Studied composition, arrangement and improvisation in New York and Los Angeles in the beginning of the 80´s. Graduated in 1983. from Dick Grove School of Music: CAP (the Composing and Arranging Program).
Over the years she has participated in workshops led by Thad Jones, Ernie Wilkins, Bob Brookmeyer, Bill Hollman, Kenny Werner, Lars Jansson, Bob Rockwell, Palle Mikkelborg, John Tchicai, Jo Estill, Marie Bergman, Cathrine Sadolin and Judy Niemack a. o..
From 1975, active on the Danish jazz-rock scene with one of the first all-woman bands in DK: “Hos Anna” as composer, singer, saxophonist and guitarist.
From 1978-81, conducted and composed for Hexehyl Big Band which was comprised of 28 women musicians.
Lives in Aabenraa, Denmark since 1990, and has been the leader of Jomfru Fanny Big Band from 1989 - 2003.
From 1994 - 2000, leader of the Nordic All-woman Big Band: April Light Orchestra. This band was comprised of professional women musicians from the Nordic countries. The band has played more than 30 concerts in 8 different countries including Scandinavia, The Baltic countries, and China.

Hanne Roemer has been teaching at The School of Music in Frederiksberg, Holte Børnehaveseminarium, Center for Rythmic Music og Moovement in Silkeborg, The Royal Academy of Music in Århus, Musik og Teaterhøjskolen in Southern Jutland and various music schools throughout Denmark. In Germany, Holland, UK and Sweden various workshops teaching saxophone, big band, choir and voice.
Hanne Roemer now teaches at Hoptrup Efterskole.
