I have composed and improvised music since I sat down in front of the piano at the age of 10.

Composer Through the years I have written about 35-40 compositions for big band, which have been my main passion and my favourite sound since the mid seventies. But I enjoy writing for choir, symphonic orchestra and smaller ensembles as well. I have been inspired by: Thad Jones, Duke Ellington, Gil Evans, Maria Schneider, Palle Mikkelborg, Count Basie, Erling Kroner, Pierre Dørge, Debussy, Johan Sebastian Bach, Stravinsky, and many, many other great composers. In 81 I began my studies at the Dick Grove School of Music, and got into a serious composing process, finishing score pages for all kinds of orchestrations. In the 90'ties I have written songs and stage music for various theatre plays, and have had a lot of fun working together with directors, actors, singers and all kinds of musicians. I have contributed with new compositions to all the ensembles that I have played in, and I have more than 300 titles listed in Koda, the Danish intellectual property right organisation.

Arranger
One of my main interests in the last 20-15 years has been arranging jazz-standards for duos, trios, quartets, for big band and for choir. I feel profoundly grateful to the American writers and composers, who wrote the songs for the musicals in the middle of the last century. They have given us a gold mine of poems as well as melodic and harmonic material with never ending possibilities for musical creativity.
Writing an arrangement is like gift wrapping for the ears. Or you could call it: dress up a theme for something else, something new.
Don't hesitate to ask and/or order any kind of arrangements!

Conductor No matter if it is a big band or a choir, a symphony orchestra or a small ensemble; I find it most important to give the musicians a possibility to give their very best. I work consciously on creating a warm and creative atmosphere where the actual music show us where to go. To have the opportunity to let my musical wishes come true, right there before me, is a never ending story of how to develop a musical situation from the first immature attempt of interpretation of a new piece – until it finally has reached a certain “ripe for concert” status. And of course it is even more exiting if it is music that I just wrote. Being inspired by the choir conductors, which I met as a child being a member of the Danish Radio's Girls Choir, I conducted my first choir at the age of 14. I simply gathered some class mates and I taught them how to sing a few of the songs we learned in the Radio Choir. And that is a process I have taken up over and over again ever since that first try.
